i was pondering chaos the other day, remembering when my life was full of it and looking at the difference now. i started reading around a bit and found this article and thought it was good. i am working on taking care of the little sources of chaos in my life, procrastination and things of that nature. nothing major, but i do create wrinkles where things could be smoother. i consider this to be an important next step in self love and mastery of my life. anyway, enjoy. www.google.com/amp/s/www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/enlightened-living/201101/what-sort-chaos-do-you-invite%3famp

It sounds like what this writer calls chaos is also what one might call self-defeating behavior.
I guess it's true that most people engage in various forms of it.
That would be a good journaling topic-- "What could I do differently to invite less chaos into my life?"
The author doesn't really discuss the fact that there must be some sort of payoff though. I do think that we do what we do for some sort of reason (ex: identity investment, or to avoid certain feelings, or to because we think it offers us some form of comfort even if it also invites chaos, etc.)

leavethelighton , it's been a good exercise for me to pay attention to the tiny stressors that ping me which i habitually avoid. like an administrative task for my business or personal affairs. i suck at journaling and have a real aversion to it, so i don't do it. but i do get and maintain awareness in other ways. i think there is an illusory payoff sometimes, and sometimes on my part it's just laziness or the wish to do something pleasant instead of unpleasant at the moment. lol
