I was telling my therapist about my mother. She asked me- do I think my mom could have a narcissistic personality disorder? I don’t know if that’s true- when I was asking myself what could possibly be my issue that made me so hurtful despite my intent to be caring I came across narcissism and saw a decent amount of those traits in my actions. I don’t think I’m a narcissist. But my mom? Maybe. Wondering if anyone has any good resources or references I might be able to read up on. It doesn’t honestly matter- but I’m curious about it.

I have to see if I have any good links. I think it does matter. Having a personality disordered adult caretaker has very definite impacts on other family members and future generations and contributes to insecure attachment styles and other emotional health issues. It can be very freeing to understand that, and that some of the baggage and trauma you may have unconsciously taken on as a child isn't really your own.

Dr. Les Carter has a whole youtube channel for dealing with narcissists. He's got a regular topic channel and a narcissism one. I like his style a lot!
