I don't know if there is a thread for poems or others texts, didn't find it, so I put it here. I don't know, I think it's really an attachment poem, you will tell me. I loved it !
for women who are ‘difficult’ to love. a sidenote (from Gabriel Guarino de Almeida)
warsan shire wrote for
women who are ‘difficult’ to love.
she said
you are a horse running alone
and he tries to tame you.
you know that
i met some horses
running alone.
and what happened is that
i am a man.
and if you happen to be a man
and want to love a horse
who is running alone
you have to listen. to care.
and to be ready to walk by yourself.
cause the horse has to run
cause the horse is stronger
deeper. even wiser than you
so you have to deeply listen more
than you have to speak.
but the thing i really want to say,
being a barefoot man,
who has neglected the machinery
and goods from the house of gentleman,
is that i’ve noticed some
some horses,
when they find a barefoot man,
they try to trust him. even love him.
but the horse has open wounds
from the men on shoes before
and they run
so desperately that
the wounds keep opening and opening.
because for healing you have to stop running and,
even for a while, stay.
but the horses keep telling themselves
‘you are a horse running alone’
and even when he is not trying to tame you
every noise is an alarm
every movement is a trigger.
so the horse’s memories prevent the present.
and if you see some of them running
you could hardly get which one is
feeling the wind as freedom or
stepping the land as despair.
between scars and wounds
signs of battle and surviving
there is a tricky gap between
being alone and injured and
being lonely and free.
i am not saying i could get
the things i never lived but heard
or even understood something i did not.
i am a man. not a horse.
nor a rider. and nor a nurse.
but being a barefoot man
walking alone
trying to love horses
without ride them
made me notice
that ‘difficult’ to love
is not impossible. but
the horse has to allow herself
to receive love, side by side,
and some of them
believed so hard on the lie of ‘difficult’
that they have
choose not
or simply
can’t.
