Hello my fellow FAs who are working towards secure....just a bit of an update. My somatic experiencing therapy is going really well....so well in fact that it has awoken a divide in my body. My right side has always been open, but my left side was numb for decades.....now my left side is awake, but in pain because it is closed....especially my shoulder/neck area. We are still slowly trying to work on this...small, very small openings are starting to emerge but we both know this will take time....so while I go through this....I honor any blockage in your mind, body, spirit.....FA develops in trauma and healing trauma can be it’s own painful journey. I wish you all well.

Im really glad you're getting a positive experience from your therapy!
Could you perhaps explain what you mean by terms like blocked, open, closed etc when it comes to your body? I'm unfamiliar with those terms in this context.
Kind regards Krolle

Open for me is open to new experiences, open to moving forward, open to moving through and beyond the trauma... in my body it is reflected by fluid movement and no pain. Closed is a desire to move away from the pain (thus stay stuck)....for me it has manifested in my body as numbness or pain because there is a part of me that does not want to process the trauma. I sense you are very cerebral....whereas I am more emotional...so my use of language and words may not translate well for you....which is why I welcome you to explore somatic experiencing therapy and trauma held in the body via the various books on the subject.
