I thought this was excellent as well: tealswan.com/resources/articles/there-is-no-such-thing-as-self-sabotage-r281/While the intermittent reinforcement article is excellent in explaining the dynamics of push-pull, anxious-avoidant relationship, this article addresses the conflict in us (more APs probably) to leave or not to leave. On one hand, I want to leave because this relationship seems way too much work for very little gain. On the other hand, I feel like I’m giving up too easily and not very understanding of my DA. As I’ve shared in other posts, my DA has offered solutions (cue alarm bells on intermittent reinforcement!) of which I cannot bring myself to trust fully and view him in a more positive light. If anything, I view him even more suspiciously and warily which sabotages chances of things working out better since I’m semi rejecting all his efforts. Based on this article, one part of me wants to try again and see if things improve, but one other part is warning me it’s a trap and I’m the one who will suffer the effect of intermittent reinforcement!! Gosh. What a mess.
