Just wondering if anyone thinks there is a correlation between attachment types and hoarding. My Nana is a DA, and has lived denying herself most things for 40 years, covering her furniture in plastic, getting rid of anything unnecessary to the point of having nothing. Me, an FA, I’ve got to watch my house doesn’t get full of stuff.
What does everyone else think?

From what I have seen of people on tv that hoard, it's a way to keep people away physically. A lot of times it seemed it started happening after a traumatic loss ( a significant death of a loved one). My guess is it can happen with any insecure attachment type. My mom is an AP narc and she is a hoarder.

AP and way too much stuff. I saw it as a way to compensate for relations.

I have a lot of empty space, but my place is colourful and cozy. Only minimalist in the sense that I really do think twice about bringing stuff into my house. There are a few items that are very beautiful, comfortable or emotionally sinificant, and the rest are items that suit the house or my lifestyle but I am not attached to them beyond liking them. I discard things I no longer like an use with relative ease.
Used to be DA and I am more Secure that DA now.

I wouldn’t be surprised at all if they find some mummified cats in her house when she dies.
