But what if I like my cape? 🤔 Thank you for this...I always have to be careful with my words and let people come to their own conclusions.

I've seen (and posted) about this a few times on the boards during my time here. It's funny how you start seeing these things everywhere, once you know what to look for. Even in threads and replies.

Thank you so much for this. So insightful.
But god, it brings back some pretty traumatic memories for me. I was the "rescuer" in a triangle between me, my ex gf and her abusive bf I was trying to save her from. and it wasn't a happy ending for me, or her. I genuinely think the only person who got out of the whole thing without any further damage was the abuser. The whole situation scarred me deeply, and pushed me even further into being a FA, completely afraid of trusting anyone ever again. One thing it opened my eyes to though was the absolute pain and terror a good person can experience when she/he let's an abusive and dark person into their life. Horrible to witness at close hand, and it feels almost like there is nothing you can do to stop the person being abused. My heart goes out to anyone who's had to experience such a relationship. Even experiencing it from the rescuer standpoint was traumatic enough, the damage the "victim" goes through is fiftyfold. So sad and so so damaging.
