Interesting. I have never used pet nicknames to my partners.... But my last exDA (the one who made me find this forum) was so good at using flattering and cute nicknames for me that I got totally hooked (and even made one up specially for him) Being called by the sweet nicknames he had for me always felt so good and reassuring....until it started sounding a bit forced and fake...and until it finally died down...

I was thinking about something somewhat related to this - i noticed that the more my DA (maybe FA) ex started to distance himself from me (ie as soon as the relationship hit the rocks, which i am able to pinpoint to a very specific time), the less he used my actual name, and the more he used the nicknames he'd given me, and variations of those nicknames. I saw it as a further distancing technique, but don't know if I'm wrong? In fact, I noticed he rarely used my actual name for the last 3-4 months of our relationship...

This has always sickened me. I’m nobody’s Baby. In fact, I’m nobody’s man. Nobody has possession over me.

It was a bit over the top. That is sometimes all it takes to activate me. Something as innocent as “MY man”, and it’s off with the head and on with the cabbage. That’s why I mostly shut my mouth until it passes.
