notalone is no stranger to therapy - i think she mentioned she has gone to a lot of therapy and recently discovered attachment theory and wants to understand and heal it more. it's not like this is her first rodeo. i can see the benefit of an attachment therapist simply by the extremely comprehensive understanding and awareness brokenbiscuit displays here. I can validate the value of expertise, just by reading articles written by them that hit the heart of what my strange experience has been that no therapist not well versed in it even recognized. but, the therapist she described sounds very skilled with a broad palette and the trauma work is kind of foundational. im just speaking to the value of attachment knowledge , not invalidating her choice at all

Nope, Juniper is correct, this is not my first rodeo. I appreciate all the input and I’m gonna try this out.

I had my first appointment with my new therapist and it was awesome. I have more hope than I’ve had in a long time. I’m excited for this journey with him, and I’m gratefu that I found him. 😊🌈🙏

I’m excited for this journey with him, and I’m gratefu that I found him. 😊🌈🙏 this is great! Thanks juniper, it really is! He taught me a bit about psychodynamics, how the psyche tries to protect us but in that effort can in fact hurt us, how he sees that working in me, and he suggested what I can do to shift that. I'll share more details later, I'm not feeling ready right now. But it was really interesting, and very different from anyone I've ever worked with. He's the most experienced and qualified therapist I've ever worked with. In the past I've been so budget conscious, because I've had to be, but it got to a point where I realized I REALLY needed help, so I did a lot of research and stretched my budget a bit, and I feel like I found myself the Cadillac of therapists! Not to get ahead of myself, it's still early, but I'm grateful and hopeful.
